In late 2008, BYD started selling the first production PHEV in China. Showed BlueZERO E-CELL PLUS series PHEV concept in December 08. Has shown some concept fuel-cell PHEVs. Weve kept the summary table below generally up-to-date for passenger PHEVs, but not for BEVs, motorcycles or larger vehicles like buses and trucks.

The four-door sedan will deliver 40 miles on a charge; a small gasoline engine will recharge the battery as it approaches depletion, extending its range by as much as 200 miles. One wonders if the recent headway at MIT in building lithium ion cells using ?virus? Engineering proptypes enjoy a tax break. Interesting in any case.
