IFPEN now is launching a new research project investigating the viability of industrial exploitation. The H 2 used in industry is mainly produced by converting natural gas (CH 4 ), which has the downside of emitting CO 2. These minerals contain reduced iron, which oxidizes upon contact with water to produce hydrogen.
