to purchase 170 million gallon equivalents of renewable natural gas (RNG) through 2026. RNG is a key part of UPS’ strategy to increase alternative fuel consumption to be 40% of total ground fuel purchases by 2025, supporting the logistics leader’s efforts to reduce the absolute greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions of its ground fleet 12% by 2025.

UPS plans to purchase approximately 700 liquefied natural gas (LNG) trucks and to build four refueling stations by the end of 2014. An initial investment of more than $18 million to build fueling stations will be supported by the purchase of the 700 LNG tractors and continued expansion of the natural gas fleet in the US.

Under the new agreement, Whiting will purchase 80 million cubic feet (80,000 Mcf/d) of compressed CO 2 per day from TCEP—representing approximately 60% of TCEP’s total volume of captured CO 2 —during the first five years of TCEP’s operation, with gradually declining amounts and an option to extend the purchases thereafter.
