Separately, Mitsubishi Motors Corporation (MMC) announced it will begin sales of its new-generation electric vehicle i-MiEV to individuals in Japan starting 1 April. MMC has been selling the i-MiEV mainly to corporations since July 2009. Nissan LEAF will also be exempt from the car-weight tax and the car-acquisition tax.

Mitsubishi Motors Corporation (MMC) will launch the new MINICAB-MiEV minicar-class commercial electric vehicle (EV)—the second product in its EV lineup—on 8 December 2011 at dealerships throughout Japan. As with the i-MiEV, the MINICAB-MiEV will be sold on a maintenance lease, credit or cash basis.

The head of Chryslers ENVI division, Lou Rhodes, told AutoblogGreen this morning that Chrysler is marketing this battery-only version of the van to commercial fleet customers who typically have shorter range requirements. 10:59AM (4/22/2009) I know it is a REALLY superficial criteria, but I love the paint scheme on the blue one pictured.

In addition to a recent electric car deal with NISSAN Motors ( NSANY ), Portland General Electric, the Oregon state governor and GE have also announced a joint venture with Mitsubishi Motors ( MMTOF.PK ) to develop and sell the Miev electric car with 85 mile range by 2011. Tax credit incentives are also available to consumers in the U.S.
