The F6 DM uses ferrous batteries, with no lithium content, that BYD says are high-energy density and low cost. The resulting fuel efficiency improvements mean lower CO2 emissions and less fossil fuel consumption and, therefore, less pollution. BYD also developed the motors and software for the system.

Li though have many different types, weigh less and more power. Now add much cheaper materials and NiMH is now obsolete.
