CRI awarded €1.8M EU grant to scale CO2-to-methanol technology

The project is referred to as “CirclEnergy” as CRI’s technology is designed to support and enable the transition to circular economy. CRI developed the ETL technology to produce low-carbon intensity methanol from CO 2 and hydrogen and operates the first production facility of its kind in Iceland.

A team led by Joseph Spatafora at Oregon State University and Jason Stajich at University of California at Riverside is planning to fill in gaps in the Fungal Tree of Life by sequencing 1,000 fungal genomes over the next five years, providing at least two reference genomes for each of the 577 recognized families classified under Fungi.
