I wish the thing was for sale as-is. Competition is going to force them to produce a comfortable, usable, extended range EV for that price, and I will just have to wait. Well they did give brief bursts of acceleration through the parking lot to show that it does have some Roadster goodness to it.

GM has announced plans for public sales in 2010, and almost every carmaker now says it will sell PHEVs or highway-speed battery electric vehicles (BEVs) sometime after 2010. Weve kept the summary table below generally up-to-date for passenger PHEVs, but not for BEVs, motorcycles or larger vehicles like buses and trucks.

For extended range I guess one could carry a fairly modest generator set in the trunk to avoid ever being stranded. To end dependence of foreign-sourced fuels and all the political baggage associated with them, to have clean air, and to stop global warming are goals that we can achieve.
