Southwest Research Institute (SwRI) and The University of Texas at San Antonio (UTSA) announced funding for a new joint research projects to advance cleanemission technologies. One of the main groups of pollutants resulting from fuel combustion is the oxides of nitrogen, or NO x.
The scheme will enable the existing fleet of urban vehicles (initially buses, but extending rapidly to a wide range of vehicles) to be fitted with proven emission control solutions. The scheme will also provide the backbone of future retrofit funding. The most effective retrofit technologies can cut pollutingemissions by over 95%.
