Chryslers first electric car, set to be introduced late next year around the same time as General Motors Chevrolet Volt, will be a sports car with a zero-to-60 time of under five seconds and a top speed of 120 miles per hour. "This vehicle is so light it doesnt even require power steering," said Chrysler spokesman Nick Cappa.

Daimler/Mercedes Took over Daimler/Chrysler Sprinter PHEV program. General Motors Chevy Volt series PHEV, which it calls "extended range electric vehicle" (EREV), part of "E-Flex" multi-fuel platform. Showed BlueZERO E-CELL PLUS series PHEV concept in December 08. Shifted earlier focus to all-electric Focus in 2011 with Magna.

Chrysler alone, for instance, may have 3 different battery pack shapes in its upcoming models. For extended range I guess one could carry a fairly modest generator set in the trunk to avoid ever being stranded. Some critics also point out the possible dangers of electrocution from a malfunctioning robot swap arm.
