Alfa Romeo Tonale – the Italian brand finally has a rechargeable car in its ranks in the form of the Tonale PHEV compact SUV. Aston Martin DBX PHEV and EV – electrified versions of AM’s first SUV on the cards. No surprises there are promises of big performance for a PHEV due late in 2022 or early 2023.

In its cavalcade of concepts, VW also recently showed an entry-level model that appeared to be an electric reincarnation of the Beetle, but without its iconic shape. Whatever the name, the verdict is this was the best motor show of the post-pandemic era as the Japanese auto giants delivered a series of stunning electric concepts. Of course, concepts are one thing and production cars another. Maybe Tesla and the Chinese aren’t just going to just roll over the rest of the auto industry after all.

This past week not only had the usual automaker electrification declarations and teases of EVs to come such as the Kia EV6 and Lexus LF-Z concept EV, but we had a huge April Fools’ joke from Volkswagen. ” Lexus aims to offer an electrified variant of every model by 2025, but not every model will be fully electric.
