Goodbye To the Minivan. Kia is out of the minivan business and is shaking up things with the all-new 2022 Carnival. The Korean car company will remind you it is not a minivan but an MPV or Multi-Purpose Vehicle. With those words it hopes to remove the stigma of people saying “I will never own a minivan.”.

Sales volumes last month were up year over year by more than 6% but down from December, thanks in part to improved supply and added fleet sales. The majority of non-luxury brands—including Chevrolet, Chrysler, Dodge, Ford, Honda, Kia, Mazda, and Subaru—all saw ATP declines between 0.3% month over month in January.

While it’s not as legendary of a nameplate as other icons of motoring, the Pathfinder was once a rugged body-on-frame SUV that could go just about anywhere, it’s now a minivan without the utility of a minivan. At least the Kia’s price point is attractive. I was once a Pathfinder owner - a first-gen four-door.
