Like electric cars, electric bicycles are classified as zero-emission vehicles, meaning they emit no exhaust gases. Every big carmaker seems to be developing one, and governments are vying with each other to support them. Emissions, however, are produced elsewhere, when the electricity used to power the vehicles is generated.
