The current line-up, a combination of gasoline-powered and battery electric sedans and SUVs, will be all-electric in 2030. Genesis is on schedule to have 100+ dealers across the country in the coming years.

When IEEE Spectrum’s editor in chief, Harry Goldstein, needed to replace his 2008 Honda Fit in October 2020, he thought seriously about buying an electric vehicle. The dealer explained that “a huge number of buyers were returning the EVs they bought” until he discouraged them. Two obstacles stood in his way. One was affordability.
