China’s fourth largest car manufacturer Chongqing Changan Automobile Co and Orbital Corporation Limited have formed a joint development to work on a concept engine. Currently, FlexDI is only applied in non-automotive applications such as motorcycles, outboard engines and ATVs.

The split-cycle engine from the Scuderi Group offers high efficiency standards without the need for large investments to modify existing production processes. According to its designers, the engine could revolutionise future viability of the internal combustion engine. The event takes place from June 16-18 in Stuttgart, Germany.
