Huron, California Mayor Rey Leon, recently recognized by the California Energy Commission as a “Clean Energy Champion ,” is determined to make his city the greenest on the map, and much of his effort has centered around electric transportation. EAA member Rey Leon is honored for launching an EV ride sharing program for farmworkers.

PG&E services the San Francisco area and Northern California. Darbee noted that although California has about 12% of the population, it has about 25% of the demand for plug-in hybrids. He said that they thought it very likely that California and Northern California would be the epicenter for the PEV market.
