Under the Proalcool Program, sugar companies were ordered to increase production and the state-run oil company, Petrobras, was required to make álcool (ethanol) available at its fuel stations. The result is more efficient combustion, cooler running engines, lower exhaust temperatures, and increased longevity of engine life.
