A handful of bidirectional-capable EVs are available today, and automakers are quickly implementing the technology. You might have home solar, a battery, maybe you can already interface all of that together. BMW was involved with the V2G pilot of the University of Delaware many years ago. PSA has been working on it.

Were told that the agreement includes nods of acceptance from the likes of Volkswagen, BMW, Ford, General Motors, Fiat, Toyota, Mitsubishi, Eon, Vattenfall, EDF, Npower, Endesa and Enel, and while theres no time frame for when itll be introduced, were pretty stoked to hear that at least something has been decided upon. For instance, they may have solar panels on their roof or could, via their utility, opt for energy from renewable sources. Of course, everything has its drawbacks and one problem with charging at home is that it is not an option available for some city dwellers. They have several stations already built and plan on thousands more.
