liter EcoBoost engine is powering 1 in 5 of the new Fords sold in Europe in the first half of this year, according to Ford figures. The engines compact, low-inertia turbocharger spins at up to 248,000 rpm—more than 4,000 times per second and almost twice the maximum rpm of the turbochargers powering 2014 F1 race car engines.
