Since then, much of the dust has settled on the Capitol as it continues to implement qualifying terms for tax credits , continuously shifting what used EVs do and do not qualify. In my previous article, Proposed Changes to the Federal EV Tax Credit Passed by the House of Representatives , I outlined and analyzed 13 proposed changes to IRC 30D (federal EV tax credit). But all of these PHEVs have batteries of around 9 kWh and so they could easily be upgraded to 10 kWh to qualify for the tax credit.

For home charging—which accounts for the vast majority of luxury-priced electric cars—the Q6 E-Tron will be able to recharge in about 10 hours on a 40-amp 240-volt AC charger. Neither version will qualify for federal tax credits, however, since the batteries come from CATL and get put together in Germany.
