Azure Dynamics Corporation incorporated Aura Systems ’s AuraGen motor/generator into its Balance Hybrid Electric vehicle delivered to the United States Postal Service fleet (USPS). The Balance Hybrid Electric vehicle is a two-ton step van, and will participate in the USPS fleet in Long Island, New York for a twelve-month pilot program.

General Motors has announced that there will be no retail production of the Chevrolet Malibu hybrid for model year (MY) 2010 due to “elevated inventory levels of the 2009 model.” A limited amount of 2010 Malibu hybrids may be produced to fulfill fleet sales requests. 2008 Malibu hybrid. In a post on GM’s FastLane blog, Vice Chairman Tom Stephens said that the company will apply plug-in hybrid technology to one of the four core brands remaining after the restructuring: Chevrolet, Cadillac, Buick and GMC. Based on the current restructuring plan, GM is accelerating the wind-down or sale of Saturn to the end of this year.
