ExxonMobil Exploration Argentina, jointly with Gas y Petróleo del Neuquén, has discovered oil and gas in an unconventional shale well in Neuquén Province of Argentina. The company executed an agreement to add nearly 26,000 acres to its US oil and natural gas portfolio managed by subsidiary XTO Energy Inc.,

The agreement, which is subject to XTO stockholder approval and regulatory clearance, will enhance ExxonMobil’s position in the development of unconventional natural gas and oil resources. XTO’s resource base is the equivalent of 45 trillion cubic feet of gas and includes shale gas, tight gas, coal bed methane and shale oil.
