Manufacturer-specific technology adoption over time for key technologies. Based on the final Trends data through MY 2012, CO 2 emissions have decreased by 85 g/mi, or 18%, since MY 2004, and fuel economy has increased by 4.3 Nearly every manufacturer increased fuel economy in MY 2012, resulting in lower CO 2 emission rates.
