Study: IMO low-sulfur fuel standards will decrease childhood asthma cases, premature deaths; climate tradeoffs

Marine shipping fuels will get cleaner in 2020 when a regulation by the International Maritime Organization (IMO) requires a decrease in the allowable amount of sulfur in fuel oil from 3.5% pollution impacts in 2020 with and without the use of low-sulphur fuels. This is about 7-8% of the global health burden caused by air pollution.
