The authors defined regions as the Midwest, Mountain, Northeast, South, and West, based on the US Census (2016). These typically range from $1,000 to $3,000 per battery electric vehicle in most states, and they are typically about half as much for plug-in hybrid vehicles due to their lesser all-electric driving capability.
