BMW M cars – they’re coming with hybrid drivetrains. Cadillac Lyriq – American luxury giant Cadillac is going pure electric and the Lyriq is the first step. Cadillac remains on the Aussie wishlist, but not in the short term… 2022 Cadillac Lyriq. Soon, apparently.

In late 2008, BYD started selling the first production PHEV in China. First Escape PHEV delivered to SCE Nov 2007; 20 in 2008-2009. Plans Cadillac Converj, Opel Ampera, other versions. Batteries not ready. Has shown some concept fuel-cell PHEVs. Shifted earlier focus to all-electric Focus in 2011 with Magna.

The four-door sedan will deliver 40 miles on a charge; a small gasoline engine will recharge the battery as it approaches depletion, extending its range by as much as 200 miles.
