In late 2008, BYD started selling the first production PHEV in China. First Escape PHEV delivered to SCE Nov 2007; 20 in 2008-2009. Continues promotion and development of hydrogen as long-term strategy. Company says its focusing on gasoline and hydrogen. Batteries not ready. Has shown some concept fuel-cell PHEVs.

Volt like hybrids are the intermediate future between hydrogen or fast charging electric cars. Denmark did that with Wind Power and now most of their energy comes from wind rather than oil, natural gas, or coal. Just hope that we switch over to HHO (Hydrogen-Hydrogen-oxygen) gas before the "Battery thing" gets out-of-control.
