For the next few decades, petrol and diesel will continue to be the mainstream automotive fuels.

GM has announced plans for public sales in 2010, and almost every carmaker now says it will sell PHEVs or highway-speed battery electric vehicles (BEVs) sometime after 2010. In late 2008, BYD started selling the first production PHEV in China. Batteries not ready. Has shown some concept fuel-cell PHEVs.
