The very first press car I ever received was a red 2008 Mercury Sable , so let's take a look at the same kind of car at the end of its 16-year career. But we just saw a Corvair in this series less than two years back , so today you're getting a history lesson about decline-and-fall-era Mercury instead.

The original Ford Taurus first appeared as a 1986 model , going through three generations and nearly 10 million sales (counting the Mercury Sable ) before getting the axe in October of 2006. That made 2007 the final model year for the "real" Taurus, and I've found one of these rare cars in a New Orleans self-service junkyard.

In 2009, Ford saved approximately $4.5 Ford Mustang, F-150, Focus, Flex, Escape, Expedition and Econoline as well as Mercury Mariner, Lincoln MKS and Navigator also use the sustainable material. We already have bio-based foam on more than 2 million vehicles and we’re looking to convert 100 percent of our fleet to it in the future.

The January 2009 Seasonally Adjusted Annual Rate (SAAR) dropped below 10 million units to 9.57 With average gasoline prices (all grades) remaining down from their highs in mid-2008, light trucks continued to outsell cars in January 2009. There were 26 selling days in January 2009, compared to 25 selling days in January 2007.
