The electric sofas and scooters were so much cooler - and quieter - than the gasoline powered stinkers that predominate. Contracts for lithium batteries for the plug-in hybrid Saturn Vue and the Chevrolet Volt have received much press. At a price, of course, but a state rebate of $2000 for Zero Emission Vehicles will apply.

Scientist have confirmed that unlike gasoline cars, plug-ins will get cleaner as they get older -- because our power grid is getting cleaner. The comparison keeps being raised, though studies are conclusive: The "well-to-wheel" emissions of electric vehicles are lower than those from gasoline internal combustion vehicles.
