The extracted rock can be used directly as a power plant resource or it can be processed to produce shale oil, which in turn can be refined into gasoline, diesel or jet fuels. Different that shale oil—i.e., Besides Estonia, countries with large oil shale reserves include Australia, Brazil, China and Russia.
