Former Berkeley Dean of Engineering David A. Hodges Dies at 85

He was largely responsible for moving the International Solid-State Circuits Conference in 1978 from Philadelphia to San Francisco. He earned a master’s degree in aeronautics and astronautics in 1977 from MIT and a Ph.D. There he conducted research on ICs for communications and saw the potential of metal-oxide semiconductors.
