Navigant suggests that, since the automakers have already designed the vehicles that they will be selling in 2018, they will become more vocal in 2014 to push for changes; the firm expects the dispute to escalate, perhaps resulting in legal action. The ICE is also likely to get efficiency improvements from electric oil and water pumps.
