The expansion will include on-site fueling stations in Florida, Illinois, Indiana, Mississippi, Missouri, Ohio, Pennsylvania and Texas. By 2017, our goal is to reach one billion miles driven by our alternative fuel and advanced technology fleet. In 2012, the growing fleet drove 49 million miles, a 43 percent increase compared to 2011.

Virginia Tech and FHWA bring SCRIM continuous pavement friction measurement system to US

The project is led by Gerardo Flintsch, director of the institute’s Center for Sustainable Transportation Infrastructure and a professor with Virginia Tech’s Charles E. The instrumentation is housed in a Volvo VHD 430 model truck that will drive thousands of miles through Florida, Texas, Indiana, and Washington, collecting data.
