With a price tag of roughly $22,000, BYD’s F3DM — available only to fleet operators at this point — is too costly for companies to go for it en masse. That would put the F3DM well below GM’s $40,000 Chevy Volt and competitive with Honda’s 2010 Insight, expected to have a base price of just under $20,000.
