Lexus International announced it has sold more than 1 million hybrid vehicles worldwide since the RX 400h went on sale in April 2005. As of the end of March 2016, Lexus had sold approximately 1,000,600 hybrid vehicles in 11 years. The first luxury hybrid sports coupe, the RC 300h, was launched globally at the end of 2015.

Toyota Motor Corporation (TMC) has cumulatively sold more than 2 million hybrid vehicles since the launch in 1997 in Japan of the Coaster Hybrid EV in August and the Prius in December. On May 31, 2007, the global cumulative sales of TMC’s hybrid vehicles had topped 1 million.
