The 2009 Los Angeles Auto Show opens to the public today with a glittering display of green cars taking pride of place. The show, based at the Los Angeles Convention Center will host more than 30 significant world and North American debuts and feature more than 900 vehicles from sports cars and sedans to crossovers and minivans.

Mr. Ghosn said Nissan envisioned a broad range of electric vehicles , starting with small cars, and adding: “It’s not only about a small city car or a small minivan. The Chevrolet Volt is the sexiest green car in GM's arsenal. It can also be about a small commercial vehicle and a small crossover.” Ford ( F ).
