Despite the list of qualifying EVs getting shorter , the 2024 guidance also lets sellers offer the rebate at the point of sale , rather than buyers being forced to wait until doing their taxes. Interestingly, one PHEV still qualifies for the full tax credit, while others are eligible for the reduced credit.

GM has announced plans for public sales in 2010, and almost every carmaker now says it will sell PHEVs or highway-speed battery electric vehicles (BEVs) sometime after 2010. Ford Escape PHEV-40 around 2012. First Escape PHEV delivered to SCE Nov 2007; 20 in 2008-2009. Expected deposits in 2009 and first sales in CA in 2010.
