The main engine is a MAN dual-fuel slow-speed 8L70ME-C8.2-GI The Marlin-class containerships will be the largest dry cargo ships of any kind in the world powered by liquefied natural gas (LNG). The LNG-powered ships will also include a ballast water treatment system, making them the greenest ships of their size.

General Dynamics NASSCO delivered the world’s first liquefied natural gas (LNG) powered containership, the Isla Bella , to TOTE Maritime. This included collaboration during the design approval, construction and commissioning the ship to operate safely and effectively on natural gas.
