It took me 17 days to reach the United Arab Emirates, and my route went through fascinating places like the Kurdish region of Iraq, Jordan, and Saudi Arabia. Around 2 pm, I was picked up by the train engineer, whom I had met by chance. I didn’t need to ask when it would come; I could hear the engines from afar.
