Eli Electric, the manufacturer of the popular Eli ZERO electric microcar, announced this morning the opening of reservations in the US. Microcars, often referred to as quadricycles in Europe and Low-Speed Vehicles (LSVs) or Neighborhood Electric Vehicles (NEVs) in the US, are a niche category designed largely for urban travel.

Electric cars a still a joke. They are either glorified golf cart city cars like this one or they are only for the very wealthy like the Tesla. With a top speed of only 65 MPH and a 100 mile range, the Think Global will remain a niche City Car for conspicuous green consumers who aren’t concerned about safety.
