Keep your eyes on Korean manufacturer Hyundai-Kia which is determined not to be forgotten in the green car race. The company has developed its first, independent continuously variable transmission (CVT) for application in the Hyundai Elantra LPI Hybrid and the Kia Forte LPI Hybrid.

Car manufacturers continue to jump on the hybrid car bandwagon, and now you can add Kia Motors to the list. The hybrid system comprises of a converter, inverter, 180V lithium-ion polymer battery and an electric motor. It has fuel economy of 42mpg with petrol equivalent fuel economy at 51mpg.
