Glencore and General Motors announced a multi-year sourcing agreement in which Glencore will supply GM with cobalt from its Murrin Murrin operation in Australia. The company will then expand into magnet manufacturing around 2025 at its new production facility in Fort Worth, Texas.

Next-generation electric motor company Linear Labs (LL) closed a $4.5-million LL was established in 2013 after developing an entirely new methodology in the construction of electric motor and generator technologies that create more power while using less energy. This sets the LL Motor apart from conventional electric machines.

The project will convert local landfill gas (LFG), a renewable fuel source, to compressed natural gas and develop five CNG fueling stations throughout the metro-Atlanta area. The project will deploy refueling stations and alternative fuel vehicles in the Dallas-Fort Worth area. Total DOE award: $14,994,183.
