The e-Golf is powered by an 85 kW/ 115 PS electric motor. From a standing start the synchronous motor, internally called the EEM 85, develops maximum torque of 270 Nm. Electric drive systems present a challenge in relation to acoustics; the absence of any internal combustion engine very different sources of noise become noticeable.
