In the first half of 2020, the proportion of green electricity as a percentage of the total electricity mix in Germany exceeded 50% for the first time. Hager Group and Audi are thus bidirectional charging at home, otherwise known as Vehicle to Home (V2H).

Volkswagen marked its serious entry into the battery-electric vehicle market with the introduction in Frankfurt of its first two series production EVs: the e-up! In doing so the power electronics convert the direct current (DC) stored in the battery into alternating current (AC) and use this to drive the motor.
