Clean Vehicle Tax Credits Clean vehicle tax credits kicked into high gear in 2023. New federal EV tax credits were expanded and updated, and credits for used and commercial EVs became available for the first time in January. New Mexico adopted the Advanced Clean Cars II standard (ACC II).

In 2023, the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) proposed new standards to reduce GHG emissions from heavy-duty vehicles for model years 2027-2032, as part of its Clean Trucks Plan. In recent years, vehicle emission standards have also seen significant advancements, with a marked decrease in CO2 emissions and an increase in fuel economy.
