The program enables smaller groups and communities of concern that may not have the resources available to access funds for clean transportation choices.

These projects put more than 9,000 alternative fuel and energy-efficient light-, medium- and heavy-duty vehicles on the road, and establish 542 refueling locations across the country. The vehicles and infrastructure being funded include the use of natural and renewable gas, propane, ethanol, biodiesel, electricity, and hybrid technologies.

The funding comes on the back of the DOE’s announcement that it had selected 23 projects for up to $15million in annual appropriations funding with the Clean Cities project including grants for vehicles, education and infrastructure.
