Founded in 1989, and headquartered in Austin, Texas, Valence has facilities in Nevada, China and Northern Ireland. Valence currently has two manufacturing facilities in China, both wholly-owned; each facility is 50,000 square feet and located next to each other. By comparison, nickel-based Li-ion systems have a cathode voltage of 3.8V.
