The encapsulated WHP flywheel energy storage system that sits in the cockpit alongside the driver can store up to 700 kilojoules (KJ) of energy that it subsequently returns to the electrical machine—about 17% more than in 2014. The diesel power-plant now delivers 410 kW (558 hp) and more than 850 N·m (627 lb-ft) of torque.
