As per a former Tesla VP, the EV maker may pivot to state funding or even use its own resources to build a Tesla Semi Megacharger route. As noted in a TechCrunch report, Tesla was looking to secure almost $100 million from the administration’s Charging and Fueling Infrastructure (CFI) Discretionary Grant program.

US DOE Awards $300 Million in Clean Cities Grants to Support Alternative Fuels, Vehicles, and Infrastructure Development

Like the Recovery Act-funded projects, the annual Clean Cities projects include grants for vehicles, infrastructure, and education. Infrastructure to be deployed includes three CNG stations, one combined B20/CNG/Electric station, one L/CNG station, one hydrogen station, and seven electric chargers. Total DOE award: $13,195,000.
