Nissan To Work With Bhutan Toward 'Electric-Car Nation' Goal

The small Asian nation of Bhutan has a very big goal: It hopes to convert the country''s vehicles to almost all electric power. Today, Prime Minister Tshering Tobgay and Nissan CEO Carlos Ghosn announced an agreement between the nation and the carmaker to work together toward that goal.

The JV will be held 76% by KOEL—India’s largest manufacturer of diesel engines, both air-cooled and liquid cooled, covering a power range of 3 hp to 11,000 hp—and 24% by Axial Vector. Intake and exhaust valves open and close by a patent-pending method of rotating cam and trunions. KOEL manufactures more than 200,000 diesel engines per year.
